Left Crankcase Cover Removal

• Remove:
  Left Lower Fairing (see Lower Fairing Removal in the Frame chapter)
  Left Crankcase Outer Cover Bolts [A]
  Left Crankcase Outer Cover [B]

• Remove:
  Left Crankcase Cover Bolts [A]
  Left Crankcase Cover [B] and Gasket

Left Crankcase Cover Installation

• Check the left crankcase cover bearing [A] for wear or damage.

  If the bearing is noisy or have excessive play, replace it with a new one (see Crankcase Cover Bearing Replacement).

• Replace the left crankcase cover gasket with a new one.
• Install the dowel pins [A] and new gasket are in place on the left crankcase.
• Install the left crankcase cover and tighten them bolts.

  Torque - Left Crankcase Cover Bolts: 9.8 N*m (1.0 kgf*m, 87 in*lb)

• Install the left crankcase outer cover and tighten them bolts.
• Install the left lower fairing (see Lower Faring Installation in the Frame chapter).

Left Crankcase Cover Bearing Replacement

• Remove:
  Left Crankcase Cover (see Left Crankcase Cover Removal)
  Circlip
  Special Tool - Inside Circlip Pliers: 57001-143
• Remove the left crankcase cover bearing.

  Special Tool - Oil Seal & Bearing Remover [A]: 57001-1058

• Replace the left crankcase cover bearing with a new one.
• Press the crankcase cover bearing until it is bottomed.

  Special Tool - Bearing Driver Set [A]: 57001-1129

• Replace the circlip with a new one.
• Install the new circlip.

  Special Tool - Inside Circlip Pliers: 57001-143

Converter Air Filter Inspection

• Remove the left crankcase outer cover (see Left Crankcase Cover Removal).
• Visually inspect the converter air filter [A].

  If the filter is clogged with mud or dust, clean the filter.

  If the filter has any tears or breaks, replace the filter.
